Carmen Brown

Carmen Brown knows what it feels like to sit on the other side of the table.

As the mother of four children, three of whom have autism along with additional diagnoses, she has spent 17 years in IEP meetings, therapy waiting rooms, insurance phone queues, and community programs. That experience didn't just make her a better advocate for her own family. It became the lens through which she serves every family at Developmental Journeys ABA.

Before co-founding the practice, Carmen spent 20 years in the insurance industry. She reads authorizations, benefit structures and funding pathways the way most people read a menu. She spent nearly a decade in the ABA field as a Registered Behavior Technician and also taught in a developmental preschool, grounding her in both direct care and early childhood learning differences.

Carmen is a graduate of Partners in Policymaking and a published contributor to Exceptional Needs Today magazine. She advocates for families at both the state and national levels, with a consistent focus on expanding equitable access to services and amplifying parent voice in treatment planning.

As Director of Operations, Carmen is the reason the paperwork, the scheduling and the insurance side hold together - so families can focus on their child. She believes providers should walk beside parents and leave them with something they can still use a year later.

When she's not supporting families, Carmen is homeschooling her children, cheering on her husband as a football coach, and finding ways to bring learning and connection into everyday life.
